Paul Poitras March 14, 1924 - March 10, 2017 It is with profound sadness and broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Paul, with his family by his side. Paul was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and sisters, his baby daughter Marie, and his grandchild Kimberly. Paul is survived by his loving wife Lucy, of 72 years, his eight children, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Paul was born in Fannystelle, MB and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 17 where he met and married Lucy (nee Todoruk) in 1944. Paul was a man of many talents and even though he had a minimal education there was basically nothing he could not do. Auto mechanic, carpenter, farmer, gardener and welder to name a few. At age 19 he worked building the Alaskan highway and was able to share some incredible rare photos he took while working there with a camera he had borrowed from his sister Yvonne, a rare treasure for 1943. His career at Burns spanned over 43 years. Paul cared deeply about his family and friends. Dad, we miss you and we love you. Rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. A celebration of life gathering is being held over refreshments at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street, 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on Mar 14, 2017
